Why Tamilnadu should actively back OPS-Important Points to be noted here

Why Tamilnadu should actively back O. Paneerselvam (OPS)
The need of the hour for Tamil Nadu is to have a CM that the people can relate to, communicate with easily and be available, to address the various issues that are faced by the people and to bring accountability & transparency to the administration. OPS perfectly fits the bill. Hence its important to stand by him and to rid the state of the corrupt mafia.
-Important Points to be noted here

  1. Jayalalitha did not give Sasikala even a minor post in the party right till the end. This is hugely significant and not without reason.
  2. Jayalalitha trusted OPS to be her deputy more than once.
  3. Party cadre and people of TN will support OPS. Most of current MLAs and MPs will not.
  4. Sasikala, her extended family, Manarkudi clan and others aligned to her are nothing short of mafia whos backdoor politics, wheeling and dealing have ruined the state and destroyed administrative systems. People like them, in what ever party, can ruin the society, state and country. Their only ideology in life is to acquire power, wealth and control and to execute this, they control the state machinery.
  5. Jayalalitha as a single woman would have found it extremely difficult to manage her personal life, party, government and all the other commitments. Hence, she required a personal assistant who can be around her at most times and Sasikala fit that role. However, it is an open fact that Sasikala and family used this to their maximum gain, to the extent of bringing disrepute to Jayalalitha herself.
  6. Jayalalitha drove out most of this family clan but Sasikala still managed to gain control of the party by ensuring that her clan and loyalists get party tickets.
  7. One must not forget that Sasikala completely hijacked Jaya's medical condition, and did not allow anyone to meet her, including her niece Deepa. This shows how completely manipulative and dominant she can be. There is also a big question as to how Jayalalitha was put into this medical situation, in the first place.
  8. For the last 10 years, Sasikala craftily isolated Jayalalitha from everyone and inserted her strong power structure within the party.
  9. Sasikala had even hijacked Jayalalitha's residence and ensured that only those she favoured were allowed to see her and till this day, she and her family continues to occupy even the very house of Jayalalitha.
  10. Thus, most MLAs and MPs will be loyal to her atleast at this stage as it may benefit them by being in power and they may not also want to go against the mafia network.
  11. Sasikala's dominance of the party is absolute and her only and overwhelming desire is to seize power and control the state, as fast as possible. Otherwise, if she had any noble intentions, she would have let OPS continue.
  12. OPS did the right thing by coming out. It is in fact praiseworthy as he clearly knows the stakes involved. Its a hugely brave decision. It is worthy of support from the people.
  13. Tamilnadu now needs a CM who can actively and directly engage with the people at the grassroots level without any dramatics. OPS perfectly fits that role. He can carry on the vison of Jayalalitha forward ably.
  14. If the party ADMK is not with him now, he has to form a party JADMK and make an open appeal to able administrators all over Tamilnadu to join him in this effort to bring about clean, transparent administration to the state. He must choose people from each district and form a small team in each district. They should also be able to take care of election logistics - even being the booth representative during counting-each counting centre. His motto should be Corruption free, Transparent, Active governance. People will support the effort naturally and overwhelmingly.
  15. It will greatly help if the 2 major forces in Tamil Film Industry-Kamalahasan and Rajinikanth give him the support for this cause. It will make a huge difference as it is a historic opportunity.
  16. OPS should never take the support of DMK at any stage as their only interest will be in in breaking up ADMK and not some other party replacing ADMK other than them. DMK is another family party and all the public posturing will only be to further the cause of the family. Sashikala's ADMK and Stalin's DMK are both 2 sides of the same coin. Hereditary Family enterprises should have no role in state or national politics.
  17. Destiny beckoned OPS thrice and prepared him. Now, its time for him to use this to the maximum. If he does not use it well, it will be a totally wasted opportunity in Tamil History.
  18. There is a once in a life time opportunity that a person can have, and in this case, it can totally reform a State itself.
  19. People of Tamilnadu are craving for change. They are not asking for much. They only want a responsive government that works for their basic needs. They are fed up with all the politicians across party lines and have also acquired the ability to see through all kinds of posturing.
  20. There is no hurry for OPS. He may not have the numbers now. He should focus on the people's numbers and organize the party and prepare for the next election.  This is a GOLDEN HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY for OPS and Tamilnadu.
Jayalalithaa on OPS
Jayalalithaa said, “Joining a party, growing in the party, getting a position of great responsibility is not like mixing Bru instant coffee.”

“I’d like to tell you how O Pannneerselvam grew in the party,” Jaya said, and continued to list out his political journey, starting from 1977 when he joined the AIADMK.

And what does this journey say?

“And then he has also been the Chief Minister,” Jayalalithaa said. “Then, he became the Revenue Minister and the PWD Minister," the late Chief Minister went on.

2006 - Second time MLA of Periyakulam

Deputy leader of opposition in the Assembly

1996, 1999, 2000 - Went to prison for AIADMK

"He started his political career with small roles. But step by step, he grew in the party. His hard work, his loyalty, his allegiance to the party leadership, these are the reasons for his growth. He grew to become a Minister. As I mentioned, at one point he even became the Chief Minister," Jayalalithaa said.
