Chennai: Congress party released its manifesto for the 2016 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

As per ANI, the party promised to completely ban on conducting the bull-taming sport of the state - Jallikattu if it comes to power in Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, which prepared the document, released it after getting approval from AICC. TNCC president EVKS Elangovan was among other senior leaders present during the release of the election manifesto.

The Congress party had entered into a tie up with DMK as its ultimate aim is to defeat the ruling AIADMK.  If DMDK joined the fold, they could easily defeat AIADMK, he said.

Toeing the line of Dravidian majors AIADMK and DMK, BJP too had promised imposition of prohibition and freebies of eight gram gold to eligible women in Below Poverty Line category for marriage.

It is natural for people within the same party to have different views on Jallikattu. But lets not forget that this was the official manifesto. The endorsement of the ban on Jallikattu has also come from Manmohan Singh as PM and the Jallikattu ban happened when Congress was in power with DMK as its ally.
